November 10th, 2009

Voter registration for Sudan’s first Presidential and Legislative elections in nearly a quarter of a century, due to be held in April, commenced on Sunday 8th November. If you are a Sudanese citizen living in the UK, please see the information below on how to register to vote.

ACCORDING TO ARTICLES 21 (A-B-D) AND 22 (3) OF THE ELECTION ACT 2008, THOSE ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION MUST BE:

· SUDANESE

· 18 YEARS OLD

· OF SOUND MIND

· POSSESSING A SUDANESE PASSPORT AND A VALID RESIDENT VISA IN THE COUNTRY WHERE SHE/HE RESIDES

ONLY REGISTERED INDIVIDUALS WILL BE ALLOWED TO VOTE IN APRIL 2010
